"Martyr Complex"
Gary Dusek

"Morning Light" a.k.a "Jesus Box" was a collaborative shoot with the artist Gary Dusek for an idea to take a picture of him as Jesus.
After a few meeting and the photo shoot we decided to create a collaborative project based on the idea of religion and its symbols, hoping to exhibit the project in full next year. In "Morning Light" the Jesus image was cut to a few transparent print to create a 3D effect, in addition two more slides was added in between the original Jesus image. "Martyr Complex" is Gary's product of the same image. Gary used 13 canvases (8X10" each) to create one big Jesus cross. Each canvas has a heat attached layer that was later painted on.

Both of the pieces was part of "The Morning After" art show.
"Morning Light" was sold about a week after the show.

Vegas, Cosmopolitan, Marquee

If you get to Las Vegas and visit the Cosmopolitan new hotel, the new Marquee club is there, if you hassle your way to the VIP elevator, the first thing that your eyes will lay on will be a canvas print with my photo on it.

The Return of the Human Corn

The Human Corn, first exhibited in October 2010, will be shown tonight at the GreenPoint Gallery in Brooklyn.

Happy 4th!

Sold!

During a benefit event produced by Sensi6 my piece "Hands" was sold at a live auction conducted by Christie's auctioneer Adrien Meyer. The final bid was almost as double the starting bid and all of the art sales went to support "Leket Israel", Israel's largest food rescue network.
Thank you Deborah Plum for including me is this event

I love Shababa!

The last promotional clip that I was working on was for Shababland, a project that is part of the 92nd Street Y. The Shababaland project was established by Karina Zilberman, to teach kids and their families about Jewish values, culture and tradition while doing fun activities. Working with kids is always a great experience.

"Escandalo" the music video

I invite you to watch the music video directed by my self and Joa kin for the Grammy nominated artist Xiomara Laugart. The clip was made through November and December last year and was released by the end of 2010.

Still images have always been part of my life and color has been an integral part of the final product in my work. Moving images, however, hold the same strength of color in the final product and have an additional aspect of color. The fact that color tones could be directed to change from each frame (by using light technique during filming and later on in the studio using color correction) highlights the idea that a clip that is made by rapidly changing still images, each one holding a particular currency of color. There are many images in a clip to put together that each tell a story, sometimes the role of an image out of the whole sequence is to the get the viewers attention for the next image.

For me dealing with color correction, after choosing the light on set, was an eye opening experience. I realized that each color, having many different tones and changing from frame to frame, could be controlled almost singularly and has the power to alter the viewer's state of mind and inform their emotional reactions.

The talent was filmed at Rose bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The other clips were shot in a 5th Avenue apartment that was donated by admirable patrons of the arts.

I would like to thank all of the participants for giving so much and doing such a great job.

My Tel Aviv

I spent the first month of the year 2011 in Israel. Being from Tel-Aviv I spent most of the trip there. About a week ago I finished putting together the images from my month long trip. With my camera I aimed to highlight the diversity of the architecture and the unique look of this small city – where so much has happened.

The picture above was taken near the spot where a bomber blew himself up in Tel-Aviv - on Purim 1996. . The attack was the fourth suicide bombing in Israel in nine days. I remember as a kid going there and looking at the white stripes of the crosswalk, for a few months you could see exactly where it happened, as the paint where he pulled the trigger was smudged. I hope that there is a new future for the Middle East. I want to believe that the new generation will understand that violence is not the solution.

The reflection series

The reflection series started during the winter of 2009 in New York City, after observing a puddle on the street. Spending a few minutes in front of the puddle, I realized that it is possible to have a reflection positioned as the main object of an image and the "real" figure as the supporting this object. Since my main focus as a photographer is to question one's perception of an image. By using reflections as the main object of focus, supported by "real" objects, I hope to have the viewer question what they perceive as reality.

Marcy Playground shoot

Last November I had the honor to take pictures of the band "Marcy playground". The idea for the shoot was directed by my self and Melanie Willie and is part of the branding of us both, a project called JUStABLE.
